The Aeronauts (2019)

In 1862, daredevil balloon pilot Amelia Wren teams up with pioneering meteorologist James Glaisher to advance human knowledge of the weather and fly higher than anyone in history. While breaking records and advancing scientific discovery, their voyage to the very edge of existence helps the unlikely pair find their place in the world they have left far below them. But they face physical and emotional challenges in the thin air, as the ascent becomes a fight for survival.

A messenger pigeon - dropped from a high altitude - is unable to fly and plunges to its death. A man suffers a nose bleed due to low oxygen. We see a balloon accident flashback - and a man jumping to his death. A woman climbs up the balloon to fix a malfunction. She passes out, slips off the balloon - then regains consciousness and drags herself back up.

The balloon loses height but starts collapsing. The passengers desperately lose weight, then cut off the basket. When the balloon refuses to slow down, the woman prepares to jump to her death. They manage to slow the balloon down - and later crash hard into trees.
